At The Pader, we believe that interesting stories should also be responsibly presented. Our editorial team makes reasonable efforts to research, verify, and provide context for factual information published on the site.
This page explains how we approach fact-checking and editorial verification, particularly when dealing with viral stories, social-media claims, photographs, developing events, and information that may be difficult to independently confirm.
1. Our Editorial Commitment
The Pader aims to publish content that is informative, engaging, accurate, transparent, and responsible.
We understand that information can change, sources can disagree, and stories circulating online may not always contain complete or accurate context. Our editorial process therefore focuses not only on finding information, but also on evaluating where it came from and how confidently it can be supported.
2. How We Verify Information
Depending on the subject, our team may compare information across multiple credible sources before publishing.
Sources may include:

- Peer-reviewed research and academic publications;
- Official statements from organizations or individuals;
- Original reports and firsthand information;

The type and number of sources required may vary depending on the nature and complexity of a story.
3. Viral and Social-Media Claims
Viral posts, videos, photographs, and claims can spread rapidly before their accuracy is established.
When a viral claim becomes the subject of an article, we attempt to determine what evidence is available and whether the claim can be independently supported.
When evidence is insufficient, we do not intentionally present an unverified claim as an established fact. Instead, the article may identify the information as unverified, disputed, developing, or based on available reports.
4. Fact-Checking Labels
When appropriate, The Pader may use descriptive labels to help readers understand the verification status of a claim.
VERIFIED
The available evidence and credible sources support the central factual claim.
FACT-CHECKED
The claim has been reviewed against available evidence and relevant sources.
UNVERIFIED
We could not independently confirm the claim with sufficient reliable evidence at the time of publication.
DEVELOPING
Information is still emerging and may change as additional facts become available.
These labels describe the status of the information available to us at the time of review. They are not intended to imply absolute certainty where the available evidence remains limited.
5. Sources and Attribution
We aim to identify and link to original or primary sources whenever appropriate and reasonably available.
Depending on the story, source attribution may include official organizations, government agencies, scientific publications, news organizations, photographers, creators, or other rights holders.
We do not intentionally present another publisher's reporting as our own original reporting.
6. Images and Photographs
Images can sometimes provide important context, but photographs circulating online may be miscaptioned, taken out of context, digitally altered, or incorrectly attributed.
When an image is central to a claim, we may examine available information about its origin, caption, date, location, photographer, organization, or other relevant context.
When the authenticity or origin of an image cannot be established with reasonable confidence, we aim to make that uncertainty clear to readers.
7. AI-Generated and Digitally Edited Images
The Pader may use AI-generated, digitally edited, or illustrative images for editorial presentation.
When an image is created or substantially modified for illustration rather than documentation, we aim to distinguish it from authentic documentary photography.
We do not intentionally present AI-generated or substantially altered imagery as authentic photographic evidence.
8. Developing Stories
Some events develop quickly and reliable information may not be immediately available.
When reporting on developing stories, we distinguish between confirmed information, official statements, reported claims, and information that remains subject to verification.
Articles may be updated as new and credible information becomes available.
9. Corrections and Updates
We recognize that mistakes can happen and that accuracy is an ongoing responsibility.
When a factual error is identified or credible evidence demonstrates that an article requires correction, we review the issue and make appropriate changes when warranted.
Significant corrections or updates may be noted within an article when necessary to maintain transparency with readers.
Readers who identify a potential factual error are encouraged to contact us and provide the relevant source or supporting evidence.
10. Editorial Independence
The Pader maintains a distinction between editorial content and commercial relationships.
Advertising, sponsorships, affiliate relationships, or other commercial arrangements do not determine our factual conclusions or editorial coverage.

11. Originality and Attribution
We aim to produce original editorial content based on research, reporting, analysis, and appropriate attribution.
When information is derived from another source, we aim to credit that source appropriately and, when possible, provide readers with a way to access the original material.
12. What We Do Not Claim
Fact-checking does not mean that every detail of every story can be independently established with absolute certainty.
Our verification reflects the credible evidence and information reasonably available to us at the time an article is reviewed or published. New evidence may change the understanding of a story, and we may update our content accordingly.

The Pader does not believe that responsible journalism means avoiding interesting or viral stories. Instead, we believe those stories should be presented with appropriate context and transparency.
