ABS-CBN's franchise is due on March 2020 but until now the bills about it hasn't been discussed yet by the Committee on Legislative Franchise.

Lipa Lone District Representative Vilma Santos-Recto, who worked for ABS-CBN for quite a while, stated that,

“Considering that we are in recess, I hope that when we go back this November, this will be subject for deliberation by the committee.”

According to Santos-Recto, the proposed House Bill No. 4305 is already pending since November 16, 2016 but there was no act about it until the previous Congress ended.

“Just for the record, last 17th Congress, the same [was not] tackled by the committee," added Vilma.

“Ang sabi ko nga (As I said), let’s wait for the action of the Committee on Legislative Franchise regarding ABSCBN renewal, when we go back this November.

“I leave it to the sound discretion of my colleagues in Congress," said Santos-Recto to Inquirer.net

The session would resume this November 4th as the franchise remained pending since th Congress went on a break. The House Majority Leader said that it was still premature to affirm if the lower chamber would commit to process the proposal on this franchise.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panela said that the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN depends on the Congress and not on President Duterte knowing that he has repeatedly throw threats against ABS-CBN for not airing his paid advertisement during 2016 Presidential elections.
