As per Asia Wire, the girl's family discovered her already unconscious. They likewise reported that she exhibited symptoms related to hyperglycemia, or a condition characterized by superbly high blood sugar levels. RMN stated that some of the symptoms that the patient suffered from were nausea, dehydration, and frequent urination.

The patient was brought to the Ruijin Hospital where doctors discovered that her blood sugar was 25 times higher than normal, said New York Post. She was placed on a ventilator and received kidney dialysis. She then woke up from a coma five days later.

As per Healthline, an average cup of bubble tea has 54 grams of sugar while its iced tea counterpart only has 22 grams.
