This year is the 31st PMPC Star Awards for TV. The event was held at Henry Lee Irwin Theater in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City on November 12, 2017 and will be broadcasted over ABS-CBN Channel 2 on November 19, 2017 (on Sunday's Best), since the station won as the best station. The PMPC Star Awards started in 1987 announcing Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos as the first winners of the Best Female TV Hosts. For the past years, Toni Gonzaga dominates in the PMPC as the Best Female TV Host. She won in 4 consecutive years from 2010-2014 except for 2013 which was won by Anne Curtis as well as 2015 and 2016. Meanwhile, this year's event is a whole lot new to everyone. Kapuso primetime queen Marian Rivera- Dantes took the award as the Best Female TV Host. It is not too long ago since people recognized Marian not just in the field of modeling and heavy-drama roles but as a good host as well.
She started hosting the 'Sunday Pinasaya' after she married Dingdong Dantes. Sunday PinaSaya is a Philippine Sunday noontime comedy-variety show broadcast by GMA Network on August 9, 2015. The program is the first Sunday noontime variety show to be produced as a blocktimer, rather than by GMA Network, which produced the program's predecessors GMA Supershow, SOP, Party Pilipinas and Sunday All Stars. The program is produced by APT Entertainment, a subsidiary of TAPE Inc., the production company behind the longest running noontime variety show in Philippine television, Eat Bulaga! Along with Marian Rivera was Ai-Ai de las Alas, Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola as main hosts of the show. In correlation with Marian Rivera winning as best female tv host, Sunday Pinasaya wins the Best Variety Show making Marian Rivera give a remarkable speech saying, "Ang layunin ng Sunday Pinasaya ay makapag bigay ng saya sa mga tao linggo linggo, Maraming salamat PMPC dahil sa karangalang ito ako ang "PINASAYA" ninyo". “Sa lahat po ng bumubuo ng Sunday Pinasaya, especially Mr. Tuviera sya po ang nakaisip ng lahat ng ito. Kaya ‘tay, Congratulations,” she added. This is Marian's first best female Tv host award, which made it a very momentous event for her.
